  • Update

Following some config changes made yesterday with other products being impacted by the Google traffic omission, all indications of success are positive. We are beginning to see expected results. The whole re-process to reach our previous status can take weeks. We have started collaboration exercises in getting involved with Google colleagues to expedite the impact. The revenue impact has slowed significantly in previous days and we are now in monitor status. There will be no more updates for this issue, unless significant or notification of complete resolution. All further actions to be discussed in Post Incident reviews.

A further attempt at a fix has been deployed after collaborating with other product teams. Following this deployment, we have re-submitted relevant data and config to Google and is now being monitored. We hope to see some outcome of todays deployment over the next 24 hours. Next update Tues 27th June 3pm or earlier if significant.

  • Update

Following multiple attempts at workarounds for the Google traffic blocking, it appears that the internal changes made on Friday were unsuccessful. The Platform Engineering team investigating are working closely with other product teams which look to also be impacted to make further config changes to allow the index to be re-enabled. We are trying to align to Google processes which can take time to take effect. Customers will not notice any impact to their shopping experience on our sites, however, some of our specific pages not being listed on certain Google search results are reducing revenue. Next update at 4pm or at anything significant.

  • Update

There appears to be some progressing towards a resolution of the Google Bot issues in that we can see the config of the process working in the way it should be following some changes made yesterday. We are in conversations with Google and Imperva as there may need to be config changes undertaken on their side. Some of the processes can take up to 48 hours for any changes to be seen. Co-op Platform Engineers continue to monitor and work on this. This is also being raised with account managers. Next update 4pm

  • Update

We have continued to monitor the situation but it appears that the temporary fix that was done this morning, didn't resolve the issue. The Platform Engineering team continue to look for workarounds and have just deployed another attempt. We have re-submitted our request to Google to help us resolve. Due to the nature of the mechanics, it is most likely going to be tomorrow morning before we know if this work around was successful. Next update Fri 23/06 10am or earlier if significant.

  • Investigating

Since 17/06 Imperva (3rd party Firewall Providers) have been incorrectly blocking Google bot traffic which resulted in the shop.coop.co.uk pages being delisted from their results page for some online shop searches. This has resulted in a drop in traffic to the site and lost sales revenue. Imperva continue to investigate , however to mitigate impact, a temporary fix by the platform engineering team has been implemented, the success of which is currently being monitored. We are reaching out to Google and Imperva to advise of this and get the pages re-listed. Next update 3pm or earlier if significant.
